CINCINNATI, Ohio – Cincinnati Tigers wide receiver Tee Higgins will miss his second game of the season with a hamstring injury, but his counterpart, wide receiver Jamal Chase, is expected to play a limited role in Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.

Chase suffered a back injury during Wednesday’s practice, but he appears to be ready for the game after a pregame workout under the supervision of training coach Joey Boss and head coach Matt Summers.

Bengals head coach Zach Taylor said, “Chase’s role in the game may be more limited, he may be primarily a decoy, but he looks like he’ll fit right in.”

Bengals’ Chase could play limited role against Texans, Higgins out

The Bengals hope to make up for Higgins’ absence by starting Chase and promoting wide receivers Stanley Morgan and Sheldrick Jackson from the practice squad. Jackson is an Auburn free agent and Bo Jackson’s nephew. He is expected to make his NFL debut against the Texans after a strong preseason.

“Even if Chase is limited, most of his playing time will be taken up by rookies Andre Isivas and Trenton Irvin, but Jackson could make his NFL debut at some point,” Taylor said.

Tigers starting defensive back Sam Hubbard is also out with an ankle injury, creating an opportunity for first-round rookie Miles Murphy to make the most starts this season.

The Bengals are currently on a four-game winning streak and are looking to improve their record to 7-3 on the season. The Texans are currently 1-7-1 and have the worst record in the AFC.
