Hyundai and Motional have announced that they will produce the Ioniq 5 self-driving cab at Hyundai’s new plant in Singapore. The vehicles will be manufactured at the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS) and go into service next year as part of Motional’s commercial operations in the United States.

The Ioniq 5 self-driving car is one of the first Level 4 self-driving vehicles to be certified to U.S. federal motor vehicle safety standards. It was developed with the assistance of the Motional team, which helped with diagnostics and software development.

Commercial production of the cab is underway, and the first models are already in the U.S. with Motional and will be tested and validated before deployment in 2024.
